The Regenerates are unlike any other client I’ve had. Merrill and Kristen’s vision to connect storytelling with action to address climate change is contagious (in the good way), and my work with them is nothing short of inspiring and ass-kicking.

Jess is an incredibly talented, creative writer, and a dream partner! Her style is versatile—playful, witty, humorous, professional, smart, you name it. She flexes easily across brand and product-oriented content, is quick to incorporate feedback, and is always mindful of the distribution channel and format. She’ll put in the work to learn and refine, and she’s a flexible, communicative collaborator.

Climate con

Climate Con ran in parallel with The United Nation’s 2021 Climate Conference, COP26. Reserved for the world’s leaders, COP26 is not what you might call relatable. It leaves all us “ordinaries” wondering what the heck we’re gonna do besides recycle, bike to work, and compost.

So, in a whirlwind 15 days, I worked with Merrill and Kristen to bring Climate Con to life. No gloomy, the-world-is-ending vibes here. In short, this doom-free conference was made for us regular people and all about real talk, real options, and real solidarity. I shaped the voice and tone over all mediums, including email, landing pages, and in-conference materials. We stopped asking what to do, and starting exploring ways to be. There were no graphs or charts. Powerpoint was scant. We focused on the power of the people: on conversations, stories, and relatable anecdotes. We didn’t want to oversell ideas, but rather invite attendees to play with them and be inspired to find their own pathways forward.

The Regenerates’ networking power and marketing genius combined with my creativity and the hustle of a determined group of incredible humans worked. With just over two weeks of promotion, we:

  • Hit 10,000 page views with 4,000 unique visitors

  • Converted 31% of visitors to attendees

  • Registered 1,200 people, 700 of whom attended

And here’s the best part:

  • The number of respondents who reported feeling motivated and inspired to take climate action more than doubled after attending

  • Two-thirds of respondents who reported feeling stuck or overwhelmed before Climate Con no longer felt that way.

Here’s how it unfolded:

Running in tandem with the conference, we wanted attendees to have something to follow along with, and take immediate action in, without being too overwhelming. Everyone was invited to make their own copy and make it their own.
